Once of the most trite cliches is ‘Do what you love’, which is almost impossible for most people to do, and make a living. Some people are lucky enough, and work hard enough to get to a point where they can make a living doing what they love, but for the overwhelming majority of people, this is not a realistic possibility. So what’s the other option?
Love what you do. There are plenty of career options which can be fulfilling, sporadically. But perhaps that is enough. Changing your mindset to learn to enjoy (and possibly love) the type of work life has afforded to you is easier than to squeeze out a living doing what you love.
Loving what you do is simple. Understand and keep in mind that your job is a means to an end. It will help start a life, support a family, and have spare time to pursue hobbies and activities that you enjoy and love.
The canard ‘Do what you love’ has cost many people a happy life, sending the in the pursuit of a virtually impossible dream. Do not end up as another statistic in this category, and love what you do.
